EUCF Tournament Format 2008!

EUCF TOURNAMENT

The EUCF 2008 will be held in Paris from Oct. 31st to Nov. 2nd and will be organized by the Ah Ouh Puc team.

The Open EUCFs is a 16-team tournament played on 3 days. The Women’s EUCFs is a 8-team tournament played on 2 days (Sat.+Sun.) until the CSC determines the division is sufficiently competitive to expand into a larger tournament.

Seeding
2008 EUCF Seeding is based on the following criteria:

Seeds are distributed by region according to the previous EUCF finish.
EUCR qualifiers are assigned EUCF bids based on their placement at their respective EUCRs.

Open: The winner of the EUCR-W 2008 will the EUCF’s number 1 seed. The winner of the EUCR-NE 2008 will be the EUCF’s number 2 seed and so forth (see results of EUCF2007 for details).

Women: The winner of the EUCR-CE 2008 will be the EUCF’s number 1 seed. The winner of the EUCR-W 2008 will be the EUCF’s number 2 seed and so forth (see results of EUCF2007 for details).

Pool Draw
The tournament will be drawn after all the EUCRs have been completed. They will be drawn by an impartial CSC representative with an observer present. The CSC reserves the right to adjust pools to avoid regional match-ups during initial pool play. Pools will be drawn according to the following formula below:

Open:

Pot 1 - 1W, 1NE, 1SW, 2NE
Pot 2 - 1CE, 3NE, 2CE, 2W
Pot 3 - 4NE, 3CE, 3W, 2SW
Pot 4 - 3SW, 4W, 4CE, 5NE

Women:

Pot 1 – 1CE, 1W
Pot 2 – 2W, 1SW
Pot 3 – 1NE, 2CE
Pot 4 – 2SW, 2NE

Tournament Format

Open:
4 pools of 4 teams. Pool play. Cross overs 2v3 and 4v4. Pool winners are rewarded with a bye. Upper pool plays quarters, semis, finals, lower pool plays round robin and placement game for final positioning.

Day 1 - pool play (3 games for all)
Day 2 - pre-quarter cross for all but pool winners (2v3 and 4v4) followed by quarterfinals and semi finals in the upper bracket and 2 games of lower pool play (2 games for pool winners, 3 games for rest)
Day 3 - Conclusion of lower bracket round robin, placement games (2 games for lower pool, 1 game for upper pool)
Total games - Pool Winners - 6, Upper Pool teams -7, Lower Pool teams - 8

All games are played to 15 points, win by 2 with a hard cap of 17 and time cap of 90 minutes.

Women:

2 pools of four teams. Pool play. Semis, finals.

Day 1 - No games on Friday!!!
Day 2 - Pool games on Saturday.
Day 3 - Semis and Finals on Sunday
Total Games - 5

All games are played to 15 points, win by 2 with a hard cap of 17 and time cap of 90 minutes.
