European Ultimate Championship Series

EUCR TOURNAMENTS

The tournament format used for the EUCRs should be standardized in order to achieve fair seeding and important game-play throughout each regional tournament. A minimum of four full-sized playing fields are necessary to host an EUCR tournament.

Ideally annual EUCRs will be three-day tournaments with a 16-team field.  However, if fewer teams participate, an EUCR may be shorter. EUCR formats and schedules will be finalized by EUCR organizers, EUCR tournament directors and, in the women’s division, the CSC.

EUCRs may be held from the second half of August to the third weekend of September. Ideally EUCRs will be held early as possible to allow teams who qualify for the EUCFs to make travel and lodging arrangements.

Seeding
2009 EUCR Seeding is based on the following criteria:
  • Seeds are distributed to nations/sections according to the previous EUCR finish.
  • Qualifiers are assigned EUCR bids based on their placement at their respective National Championship or Sectional tournament.
  • The nation or section which has won the previous EUCR is the tournament's number 1 seed. The team that wins that nation's National or Sectional tournament will be the first seed. Subsequent seeds are distributed according National or Section finish at the previous EUCR. See your region's page for exact seedings.
Three day tournaments should use the following game-play format:
  • Day 1 - pool play (3 games for all)
  • Day 2 - pre-quarter cross for all but pool winners (2v3 and 4v4) followed by quarterfinals and semi finals in the upper bracket and 2 games of lower pool play (2 games for pool winners, 3 games for rest)
  • Day 3 - Conclusion of lower bracket round robin, placement games (2 games for lower pool, 1 game for upper pool)
  • Total games - Pool Winners - 6, Upper Pool teams -7, Lower Pool teams - 8
Shorter tournament formats and game play will be decided by EUCR organizing committee and EUCR tournament directors.

The minimal EUCR game length should be short enough to allow four games per day (in the case of a two-day tournament). Longer games, to 15 points, win by 2 with a hard cap at 17 and time cap of 90 minutes is encouraged.
